King Creative Studios by Maurice Ligon II

Ever since I was a young child, I loved to create and make things with my hands. I started channeling my creativity towards media and paintings as I grew older. In 2019, I started painting for the first time and fell in love with it. Soon after, I started selling original art pieces and doing commissions. My photography journey began as a hobby in 2019, evolving significantly through hands-on experience and a deepening passion for the craft. Initially, my photography centered around capturing moments for friends, which gradually expanded into a broader array of gigs.

Although I faced limitations in the early years, particularly the challenge of not having an indoor space for headshots and portraits, this obstacle didn’t hinder my progress. In 2024, I acquired my own studio, marking a new chapter of my career. This space has already seen success, showcasing the versatility and potential of my studio environment.

My portfolio is diverse, covering weddings, engagements, events, and portrait photography. One of the aspects of photography that I find most exhilarating is the play with lighting to create dynamic looks. This experimentation not only allows me to bring out the best in my subjects but also to express photography as the art form I genuinely believe it to be. Each project I undertake is an opportunity to explore the nuances of light and shadow, emotion and expression, capturing moments that are both ephemeral and timeless.

Photography, to me, is more than just capturing images; it’s about storytelling, creativity, and the pursuit of beauty in the mundane. My experience has taught me that every shot is an opportunity to create something unique, to bring a vision to life, and to connect with people on a level that words often cannot reach. As I continue on this path, I am constantly learning, evolving, and striving to perfect my craft, all while maintaining the joy and wonder that drew me to photography in the first place.
